DANIEL: It took a while to get diagnosed with lupus, but I was able to get on therapy right away. My lupus was mostly controlled. And I got really involved with patient groups online. They’re great places to find information and support.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Daniel*: 38 years old; Diagnosed with lupus 5 years ago; SLE treatment: Hydroxychloroquine: 300 mg/day; Prednisone: 7.5 mg/day.

DANIEL: About a year ago I started to notice foamy urine, and then shortly after that dark urine. My rheumatologist sent me for some tests. And when we received the results, I was referred for a biopsy, and I was diagnosed with lupus nephritis.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Daniel*: Diagnosed with lupus nephritis 10 months ago; Renal biopsy confirmed Class IV diffuse lupus nephritis.

DANIEL: I was scared about what having lupus nephritis meant, not only for me but also my family. My main concern is always my kids, I’m a stay-at-home dad, and I just can’t imagine not being able to fulfill that role.
